Understanding Student Data Storage in PicoBuddy

At PicoBuddy, we understand the importance of student privacy. We've designed our system to minimize the collection of personal data while still providing valuable progress tracking for educators and parents.

No Student Logins or Email Addresses

  • Students do not create individual login accounts. This eliminates the need for managing usernames and passwords for each student.
  • PicoBuddy does not require student email addresses. We believe that access to engaging reading tools shouldn't come at the cost of personal information.

How We Track Student Progress

Instead of logins, PicoBuddy uses a simple and flexible system:

  1. When a student completes a quiz, they are prompted to enter a name or nickname.
  2. This name can be a nickname, initials, or any label that the student, teacher, or parent chooses. For example, a student named Sarah might use "S", "Sarah J", or even "Bookworm"!
  3. Quiz results are stored and linked to that chosen name within the teacher or parent's account.

Why This System Works

  • Progress Tracking: This allows you to track individual student progress over time. You can see how "Bookworm" is improving their comprehension skills across different quizzes.
  • Flexibility and Privacy: Families and teachers have complete control over the level of identifying information used. You can choose to use initials or nicknames to further minimize the storage of personal data.
  • Designed for Minimal Data Collection: PicoBuddy is intentionally designed to collect only the data necessary to provide effective learning support. We believe in empowering students without compromising their privacy.

We are committed to providing a safe and effective learning environment. If you have any questions or concerns about data privacy, please don't hesitate to contact our support team.
