PicoBuddy's Remix feature is designed to help you tailor reading content to meet the unique needs of your learners. With Remix, you can easily adapt a passage in two key ways:

• Change the Level/Grade: Adjust the reading difficulty to match a student's current reading ability.
• Change the Language: Translate a passage into a different language for multilingual learners or language acquisition.

This flexibility empowers you to provide differentiated instruction and support diverse learning needs effectively.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using Remix

Here's how to use the Remix feature:

Step 1: Find Your Passage

• Begin by searching for a passage in the Library or opening one of your own passages from your saved collection.

Step 2: Locate the Remix Options

• Once you're on the passage page, scroll down until you see one of these sections:
  • "Same Topic, Different Levels"
  • "Multi-Language Support"

Step 3: Explore Existing Remixes

• If other users or PicoBuddy have already generated variations of the passage, you'll see them listed in these sections.
• Simply click on an existing remix to view and use it immediately.

Step 4: Create a New Remix

• If the specific level or language variation you need isn't available, click the Remix button.
• Choose your desired option:
  • Select a new grade or reading level from the dropdown menu.
  • Choose a different language from the language options.
• Then, click the Generate button to create your new remix.

Tips for Effective Use in the Classroom

• Differentiate Instruction: Use Remix to create multiple versions of the same text at varying reading levels, allowing all students to access the core content regardless of their reading abilities.
• Support ELL/ESL Learners: Provide translated versions of passages to help English Language Learners understand the material in their native language while simultaneously developing their English reading skills.
