Young Marcus Learns to Lead

Once upon a time, in a big, old city, lived a young boy named Marcus. Marcus wasn't just any boy. He was going to be a very important person one day. But right now, he was just learning, like you!

Marcus loved to play with his toys. He had little soldiers and wooden horses. He liked to pretend he was a brave leader, just like the heroes in stories.

One sunny day, Marcus’s Grandpa showed him a garden. “Marcus,” he said, “a good leader is like a good gardener. He helps things grow.”

Marcus looked at the plants. Some were tall, and some were small. Some needed lots of water, and some didn't need so much.

“Each plant is different,” Grandpa said. “A good gardener knows what each one needs.”

Marcus helped Grandpa water the plants. He learned that the tall plants needed more water than the little ones. He also learned that some plants liked the sun, while others liked the shade.

Grandpa said, “A good leader is the same. People are all different. Some need help with one thing, and some need help with another. A good leader knows how to help everyone.”

Marcus thought about this. He knew he wanted to be a good leader one day. He would remember what his Grandpa taught him in the garden: to help everyone in the way they needed.

From that day on, Marcus tried to be a good leader with his friends. He helped them when they needed it and listened to them when they had something to say. He was learning to be a great leader, one garden lesson at a time.
