Lily's Sleepy Body Scan

Lily was a little girl who loved to play! But when it was time to sleep, her body felt like it still wanted to run and jump. Her mom told her a secret: a 'body scan' to help her relax.

First, Lily lay in her bed. "Close your eyes," Mom whispered. "Now, wiggle your toes. Feel them wiggling? Good. Now, stop. How do they feel now?" Lily thought. "Tingly!" she said.

"Next," Mom said, "think about your feet. Feel them resting on the bed. Are they warm or cool? Just notice them." Lily felt her feet. They were warm and cozy under the blanket.

They kept going, slowly. Legs, tummy, chest, arms, and hands. Lily thought about each part. She wiggled, then rested. She noticed how each part felt. Soon, her body felt heavy and calm.

Finally, they got to her head. "Think about your face," Mom said. "Is your nose itchy? Is your mouth open or closed?" Lily smiled a little. Her face felt sleepy.

By the time Mom finished, Lily's body felt like a soft, fluffy cloud. Her eyes were closed, and her breathing was slow. The body scan helped Lily say goodnight to her wiggles and hello to sleepy dreams. She drifted off to sleep, calm and peaceful.
