Candy Share Time

Lily, Tom, and Mia were best friends. They loved Halloween! They dressed up and went trick-or-treating. Their bags were full of yummy candy.

When they got back to Lily's house, they spread out their candy. “Wow! Look at all this candy!” said Tom. “I want to eat it all!”

“Wait!” said Mia. “We should share it fairly. Then we each get the same amount.”

Lily nodded. “That’s a great idea! But how do we do that?”

Tom grinned. “I know! We can use division! We’ll count all the candy. Then we’ll divide it into three groups, one for each of us.”

First, they counted all the candy. They had 30 pieces. “Okay,” said Lily. “30 pieces of candy for 3 friends. How many does each person get?”

Mia thought hard. “If we divide 30 by 3, that’s 10! Each of us gets 10 pieces!”

They made three piles of candy. Each pile had 10 pieces. Lily, Tom, and Mia each took a pile. They were so happy! They shared the candy fairly, and everyone got the same amount. Now they could all enjoy their Halloween treats.

“Sharing is more fun than eating it all myself!” said Tom.

Lily and Mia agreed. Sharing made their Halloween even sweeter.
