The Mystery of the Missing Toy

Lily loved her toy elephant, Ellie. Ellie was soft and gray. Lily took Ellie everywhere. One sunny morning, Lily couldn't find Ellie.

"Mom, Dad! Where's Ellie?" Lily asked. Her parents looked around. Ellie was nowhere to be seen.

"Don't worry, Lily," Dad said. "We'll find her. Let's be toy detectives!"

Lily and her dad started their search in the living room. They looked behind the sofa and under the cushions. No Ellie. Lily's mom checked the kitchen. She looked near the table and by the chairs. Still no Ellie.

Next, they searched Lily's bedroom. They peeked in the toy box and under the bed. Lily felt sad. Where could Ellie be?

Suddenly, Dad spotted something. "Look!" he exclaimed, pointing to a corner of the room. Behind a stack of books, they saw a bit of gray fur. It was Ellie!

"Ellie!" Lily cried. She grabbed Ellie and gave her a big hug. "You were hiding!"

Dad chuckled. "It looks like Ellie wanted to play hide-and-seek," he said.

Lily smiled. She was so happy to have Ellie back. She promised to keep a closer eye on her favorite toy.

That night, Lily tucked Ellie into bed beside her. "Goodnight, Ellie," she whispered. "I'm glad you're home."
