Sunny's First Day
Lily bounced on her toes as her mom opened the little cardboard box. Inside, nestled in soft straw, was a tiny, yellow chick wearing sunglasses and a flower crown. "He's here!" Lily squealed. "He's really here!"
"Meet Sunny," Mom said, carefully lifting the chick into Lily's hands. Sunny peeped softly and snuggled into Lily's palm. He was so fluffy and warm, Lily thought he felt like sunshine in her hands.
Lily spent the entire day showing Sunny around. She showed him her colorful toys. Sunny seemed to enjoy looking at a bright red ball, pecking at it gently with his little beak. She showed him her picture books. Sunny tilted his head, as if listening to the stories.
That evening, Lily tucked Sunny into his cozy bed in a corner of her room. She whispered, "Goodnight, Sunny. I'm so happy you're my new pet!" Sunny peeped back, and Lily knew they would be best friends.
