Solving Problems Together

Sometimes, friends don't agree. Maybe you both want the same toy. Or maybe you want to play a different game. When this happens, it's called a conflict. But don't worry! You can learn to fix it.

Talk It Out

The first thing to do is talk. Tell your friend how you feel. Use "I" words. Say, "I feel sad when you take my toy." Then, listen to your friend. How do they feel?

Find a Way to Share

Maybe you can take turns with the toy. You play with it for five minutes, and then your friend can play with it. Or maybe you can find a new game you both like. Ask, "What else can we do?"

Be Kind

It's important to be nice, even if you are mad. Don't yell or call names. This will make the problem worse. Take a deep breath and try to stay calm.

Say Sorry

If you did something wrong, say sorry. A sorry can help your friend feel better. And if your friend says sorry to you, try to forgive them. Then you can play together again!
