Rainbow Quest

Lily loved rainbows more than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which was saying something. One rainy morning, Lily peeked through the curtains. It was pouring! "Perfect rainbow weather!" she exclaimed.

But Mom had said, "No playing outside in the rain, Lily. You'll catch a cold!" Lily sighed. What was a rainbow-hunter to do?

Operation Rainbow

Lily hatched a plan. She tiptoed to the closet and grabbed her bright yellow raincoat and her mom's big orange umbrella. It was so big it almost covered her completely. She carefully opened the back door and slipped outside.

The rain tickled her face as she marched toward the field of sunflowers behind her house. Each step was a splashy adventure! Lily kept her eyes peeled for that colorful arc in the sky. She checked behind every sunflower, hoping to find the end of the rainbow.

A Funny Discovery

Instead of a rainbow, Lily found something else – a very muddy pig! The pig snorted and wiggled its snout, covered in mud. Lily giggled. She hadn't found a rainbow, but she'd found a friend. The pig seemed to like the sunflowers, too.

Just then, Lily's mom called from the back porch. "Lily! What are you doing?" Lily turned around, the big umbrella bobbing. "Looking for a rainbow!" she shouted back, with a muddy pig as company. Her mom just laughed and shook her head, but her mom looked pretty amused.
