

Marcus Aurelius: A Kind Ruler
Once, long ago, there lived a man named Marcus Aurelius. He lived in a big place called Rome. Rome was very strong and important then. Marcus was the ruler of Rome. That means he was like the king!
A Good Man
Marcus was a good man. He was nice to people. He did not like to fight. He liked to think about things. He liked to write down his thoughts in a book. This book is now famous. It is called 'Meditations.'
Be Thankful
In his book, Marcus wrote that it is good to be happy with what you have. If you have food, be happy. If you have a home, be happy. If you have friends, be happy. He said to be thankful for things, big and small.
Do What Is Right
Marcus also thought it was important to do what is right. Even if it is hard, he said to be kind and fair. He helped people who needed help. He tried to make Rome a better place for everyone. Marcus Aurelius was a very wise and good ruler.
