The Loneliest Bear

Lumi was a polar bear, and he was sad. He lived in a land of snow and ice, where the wind howled like a hungry wolf. Once, Lumi's home was filled with the laughter of other bears, but now it was quiet. So very, very quiet.

Every morning, Lumi would trudge across the icy plains, searching for a sign of life. He hoped to see another polar bear, someone to share a friendly nod or a playful tumble in the snow with, but he was always alone. The sun was bright, but it didn’t warm Lumi’s heart. His fur, though thick and white, couldn't keep out the chill of his loneliness.

One day, as Lumi sat on a small hill of snow, he noticed something peculiar in the distance. It was a small bird, fluttering its wings. The bird was different from the seabirds he was used to seeing. This one was tiny, and it had bright yellow feathers!

The little bird chirped happily as it landed on Lumi’s nose. Lumi had never been so close to such a small creature. He watched as the bird started to build a small nest in the snow. The bird had no fear of the big bear and Lumi watched in amazement as the little bird flew off to gather more twigs.

Lumi watched the bird as it continued to build its home and something began to warm in his heart. The snow continued to fall around Lumi, but he didn't feel the cold, because he was no longer alone.
