Welcome to Olympic National Park
Have you ever imagined a place where you can hike up snow-covered mountains, explore a lush rainforest, and walk along a sandy beach all in one day? That place exists, and it's called Olympic National Park! Located in Washington State, this amazing park is a treasure of natural wonders.
Mountains Reaching for the Sky
In the heart of the park, the Olympic Mountains rise tall and majestic. Some of the peaks are covered in snow year-round! Hiking in the mountains is a great way to see beautiful views and maybe even spot a mountain goat or two. Remember to bring your hiking boots and a jacket, because it can get chilly up high!
A Rainforest Full of Life
On the western side of the park, you'll find a rainforest unlike any other in the United States. This forest is super wet, with lots of rain. All that water helps giant trees grow tall, and moss covers everything! Keep an eye out for banana slugs, which are bright yellow and like to munch on leaves. The Hoh Rainforest is one of the most famous rainforests in the park.
Coastline Where Land Meets Sea
Olympic National Park also has a long coastline where the land meets the Pacific Ocean. Here, you can explore tide pools filled with sea stars and anemones. You might even see seals playing in the waves or eagles soaring overhead. Be sure to check the tide charts before you go, so you can safely explore the rocky beaches.
