Charlemagne: The Father of Europe

Charlemagne, whose name means "Charles the Great," was a powerful ruler who lived over 1200 years ago. Charlemagne became king of the Franks in 768 AD. The Franks were a group of people who lived in the area that is now France. He was a strong and brave leader.
