Captain Calm and the Stomping Game

Once, there was a super hero named Captain Calm. He was super strong and super fast. But Captain Calm had a problem. When he lost a game, he got very, very angry!

When Captain Calm played checkers with his friend, Dot, he felt good. Dot jumped over his checker. Then Dot jumped again. "I win!" said Dot with a smile. Captain Calm's face turned red. He stomped his feet. Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! "I hate losing!" he yelled.

"Captain Calm," Dot said, "You have super powers to calm down. You can use them!" Captain Calm knew Dot was right. He closed his eyes. He took a deep breath in. Then, he let the air out. He did it again. And again.

After three deep breaths, Captain Calm felt better. His face was not red anymore. He smiled at Dot. "Thank you, Dot," he said. "I will use my calm-down super powers next time."

They played another game. This time, Captain Calm did not win. But he did not stomp his feet. He took deep breaths. He used his calm-down super powers. Captain Calm learned that it is okay to lose. It is important to stay calm.
