Ben Learns to Be Kind
Ben woke up. It was not a good day. He stubbed his toe. Then, his toast was burnt. At school, things did not get better.
At playtime, Ben saw Tom. Tom had a new toy car. It was big and blue. Ben wanted to play with it. He reached for the car, but he tripped! Ben fell, and the car went flying. It hit the wall with a crack.
"Oh no!" said Ben. The blue car was now in two pieces. Tom looked sad. Ben felt bad too. He did not mean to break it.
"I'm sorry, Tom," Ben said. "I did not mean to do it." But Tom did not say anything. He picked up the broken car. Ben wanted to make things right. What could he do?
Ben thought hard. He had some cool stickers at home. "Tom," he said, "I have stickers at home. Maybe we can use them to fix the car?"
Tom looked up. "Really?" he asked.
"Yes!" said Ben. "And we can play with my other toys too."
Tom smiled a little. After school, Ben and Tom went to Ben's house. They used the stickers to fix the car. It was not perfect, but it looked better. Then, they played with blocks and trains. Tom forgot about the broken car.
Ben learned that day. Even when you make a mistake, you can be kind. Saying sorry is good. But doing something nice is even better. It made Tom happy, and it made Ben happy too.
- Kindness: Being nice and helpful to others.
- Mistake: Doing something wrong by accident.
- Sorry: Feeling bad about something you did.
