Arlo Builds a Home
Arlo was an Ankylosaurus, but not like the others. While the other young Ankylosauruses practiced ramming trees with their bony heads and swinging their club-like tails, Arlo hid behind the ferns. He didn't like fighting. The loud crashes and angry roars scared him. Arlo preferred the quiet rustle of leaves and the chirping of insects.
One day, the elder Ankylosauruses decided it was time for the youngsters to prove their strength. "Each of you must knock down that oak tree!" boomed Boris, the largest and strongest of them all. Arlo gulped. He knew he couldn't do it. He was strong, sure, but his heart wasn't in smashing things.
As the other young dinosaurs charged at the tree, Arlo wandered off. He stumbled upon a small clearing filled with fallen logs, sturdy branches, and soft moss. An idea sparked in his mind. Instead of destroying, he could build!
For days, Arlo worked tirelessly. He used his bony head to push the logs into place, creating a strong wall. His club tail became a powerful hammer, securing the branches to form a sturdy roof. He lined the inside with soft moss, making it warm and cozy. He even created a small garden outside, planting his favorite berries and flowers.
Finally, his family came to see what he had been doing. They were amazed. "Arlo," his mother said, "this is the most wonderful home I've ever seen! It's safe, strong, and beautiful."
The other Ankylosauruses, tired and bruised from trying to knock down the oak tree, came to investigate. They were impressed by Arlo's creation. Boris, who had been the most skeptical, admitted, "Arlo, you have shown us that strength isn't just about fighting. It's about using your gifts to create and protect."
From that day on, Arlo was no longer seen as just a shy Ankylosaurus. He was Arlo, the builder, the protector, the one who used his unique abilities to create a safe and beautiful home for his family and friends.
